Lake Tawakoni Activities

Theme Weekends 2009

March 21-22: Back In Business
The park is OPEN, and we’re ready for spring! We’ll begin with breakfast at the FC, and catch up on current events at our What’s Happening Meeting. We’ll continue our day with a parade at 12 noon and a hot dog lunch to follow. Then we’ll enjoy “Luck of the Irish” games later in the day.

April 11-12: Easter Weekend
Kids will dye their own Easter eggs in the morning. (Bring a dozen hard-boiled eggs to decorate and candy eggs to be hidden for the Easter Egg Hunt.) We’ll have an Easter Egg Hunt that afternoon, featuring the kids’ creations. Feel free to bring additional candy or goodies for the children.

May 9-12: Mother’s Day
Mothers and their families will be treated to a cake and punch social. We’ll have special honors for oldest mother, mother with the most children and youngest mother.

May 23-25: Memorial Day “Red, White & Blue Weekend”
All campers will be encouraged to decorate their sites for the holiday. A hot dog lunch and an ice cream social will be enjoyed on Saturday, with fun & games on Saturday and Sunday. Trey Houston will perform at 7:30 Sunday night. Don’t miss his show – it’s a crowd pleaser.

June 20-21: Father’s Day Weekend
We’ll have our What’s Happening meeting at 11 am. We’ll celebrate Father’s Day with a wine & cheese tasting at 6 pm – everybody brings two bottles of wine. We’ll sample the contents of one, and auction the other bottle. The day will conclude with a hot tub and swim party at the Adult Lodge.

July 3-5: July 4th Festivities
A “Fireworks Fantasy” will be the highlight of the day – but no actual fireworks will be displayed or allowed. A Sunday barbecue dinner will be enjoyed by all. Campers will be encouraged to decorate their vehicles, golf carts or bicycles with a patriotic theme and be part of a parade through the park.

August 15-16: Casino Night
Bring your luck and enjoy Blackjack, Texas Hold’Em, Bingo, “42” tournaments and lots of other games of chance.

September 5-7: Labor Day Weekend & Hawaiian Luau
We’ll kick off Saturday with a parade and a picnic behind the Family Center. On Sunday, we’ll enjoy Island Games all day, capped off by a Luau next to the Family Pool Beach. (We’ll try to entice Lin Reed to roast another pig).

October 17-18: Fall Festival
Get your bobby socks on and your flattop haircut ready to dance the night away to ‘50’s music, fortified by a hot dog dinner.

Sunday October 18 – Lake Tawakoni Preserve closes for the winter.

November 21st: Thanksgiving Dinner/Potluck
The Park will furnish turkey, ham, dressing, and rolls, and members will bring their favorite dish or dessert.
