THEME WEEKENDS 2008

January 5th.  Casino Night
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all January Birthdays and Anniversaries.  The Casino will open at 7:00pm.  We supply the chips - you supply the fun!! Cash in your chips for great prizes.


January 12th.  Luau/Island Day
We are going Native!  Pull out the grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts and join us for Island Games, Native Costume Contests, a Luau Buffet Dinner and Hawaiian Dancers in the evening. 

January 19th.  Christmas for Children Auction and Class A RV Repair B.B.Q.
Just what you’ve been waiting for.  Ruben and his crew from Class A RV Repair will treat us to their usual awesome B.B.Q dinner followed by the first of two auctions planned this year for Christmas for Children.

January 26th.  Puzzle Mania
Come join us for more puzzles than you can imagine.  There will be individual and family competitions in jig saw puzzle completion, mazes, crosswords and much more. 

February 2nd.  Super Bowl Weekend
We’ll have cake and ice cream during our Ice Cream Social to celebrate all February Birthdays and Anniversaries.  There will be Candy Bar Bingo, Brown Bag Bingo and Super Bingo to finish the evening.  We’ll all meet in the Activity Center before Super Bowl kick-off and enjoy complimentary Party Trays provided by the Top of the Trail Café.

February 9th.  Medina Prize Game Saturday Night
We’ll supply the prizes for you to win; You just have to hope that nobody takes them from you.  This won’t be all that happens today.  Check the schedule for more events during the day.

February 14th.  Sweetheart Buffet & Dance
Treat your sweetheart to a nice buffet dinner then dance the night away at our annual Sweetheart Dance.

February 16th.  Sweetheart Weekend
There will be couples games all day, so grab your sweetheart and head to the Activity Center.  The “Not So Newly Wed Game” will be held that evening after a special dinner at the Top of the Trail Café.

February 23rd.  Winter Texan Farewell Party
The Winter season is winding down.  Let’s have a party to celebrate!  There will be another good Craft Sale, Ice Cream Sundaes, a member jam session, then to finish, a B.B.Q and a Dance.

March 1st.  Family Mania
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all March Birthdays and Anniversaries.  We’ll pit family member against family member and one family against another in a variety of games and competitions.  Prizes all around!!  In the evening we’ll pop in a movie and pass around the popcorn.

March 8th.  Cakes, Pastries and More Weekend
We’ll have cup cake walks, cake and punch parties and more.  Bring your favorite pastry and cakes for a bake sale to benefit Christmas for Children and for others to enjoy.

March 15th.  St Patrick’s Weekend
A fun-filled day starting with a Bike & Pet Parade.  Later we’ll all participate in an Irish Scavenger Hunt and finish the day with a Wacky Golf Tournament.

March 22nd.  Easter Weekend
Join us for Easter Egg Dyeing, Banana Splits, Lawn Games, Piñatas and a Dance Saturday Night.  On Sunday, the Easter Bunny will join in for our Easter Egg Hunts and the Top of the Trail Café will have Easter Dinner.

March 29th.  Flea Market Weekend
Let’s all get together under the Pavilion for the first “Open Flea Market” of the year.  After that let’s stick around for Wacky-Golf, and other games.

April 5th.  Spring Fling
We’ll start the day on the Pavilion with Seed Spittin, Frozen T-Shirt Contest, and Sack Races.  Afterwards, join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake in the afternoon to celebrate all April Birthdays and Anniversaries.  In the evening we’ll pop in a movie and pass around the popcorn.

April 12th.  Tournament Day 
A full day of tournament fun.  Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, Mini-Golf, Tether Ball and more.  An awards ceremony will be held that evening for the winners.

April 19th.  Fiesta in San Antonio
Head to San Antonio to enjoy the 10 days of FIESTA.  We’ll celebrate at the Preserve with Pinatas, games and a Mexican Dinner.

April 26th.  Earth Day Weekend
We’ll gather at the Activity Center for a Nature Walk in the morning.  Afterwards the kids will compete in a variety of “Earth Day” type activities.

May 3rd.  Cinco de Mayo
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all May Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Visit San Antonio for some of their traditional events of this holiday or stay here and join us for Pinatas and other games.

May 10th.  Mothers Day Weekend
Daughters, bring Mom to the Activity Center for a “Tea Party” on Saturday.  All kids can participate in making a special Mother’s Day craft.  There will be a Bunco Tournament and a special Bingo day.  Then in the evening the Dad’s will bring the Mom’s to the dance.  On Sunday Mom will eat free at Top of the Trail Café when Dad and the kids come in for breakfast.  All Mom’s coming in will get a raffle ticket for a $50 gift card to CutaWays in Lakehills.

May 17th.  How ‘Bout We Rest & Prepare Weekend
Let’s all take a “time out” and prepare for the upcoming first big weekend of the season.  Do come by the Activity Center, though, for any unannounced events for the day and help in preparations for Memorial Day Weekend.  Kids will meet to prepare for 31st
of May and the Kids-In-Charge Weekend.

May 24th.  Memorial Day Weekend
Come and join us for a long weekend of activities.  Saturday, it will be Wacky-Golf, Hayrides, Banana Splits, Frozen T-Shirt, Seed Spittin, Lawn Games and Party Trays in the evening.  On Sunday we’ll have a dance on the Pavilion with a B.B.Q. dinner.  Top of the Trail Café will be open for breakfast on Monday morning.
       
May 31st. “Kids-In-Charge” Weekend
This weekend belongs to the kids.  All activities have been planned and will be conducted by the kids.

June 7th.  Medina Lake TTN BBQ/Chili Cook-Off
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all June Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Bring your favorite BBQ recipe to the Activity Center to participate in our annual Cook-Off.  In the evening we’ll have a movie and pass around the popcorn.. 

June 14th.  Father’s Day Weekend
Let’s make it a family tournament day with a great assortment of games.  We’ll have an awards ceremony later in the day and present all winners with their prizes and trophies.  On Sunday morning, Dad eats free at the Top of the Trail Café when Mom and the kids buy breakfast.  Stick around Dad’s - tickets will be given out to those coming in for a chance to win a $50 Home Depot Gift Card.

June 21st.  Summer Starter
We’ll start the day with a Bike Parade.  Join us at the Swimming Pool for pool games and a poolside cookout.  Return to the Activity Center for Volleyball, Tether Ball, Three-Legged Races and more.

June 28th.  Super Bingo Weekend
Brown Bag Bingo, Candy Bar Bingo and Super Bingo Saturday night.  Free cards - Great prizes.  Adults on the main floor - kids in the Adult Room.  And in between all this bingo watch for unannounced games throughout the day.

July 5th.  Independence Day Celebration
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all July Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Join us also, for a Bike & Pet Parade, Banana Splits, Lawn Games a B.B.Q Diner and a Dance.

July 12th.  Wild West Weekend
There will be games on the lawn during the day.  During the day there will be Pig Races, Horse Races and much more.  In the evening, the saloon will open for Black Jack and Poker for the adults and there will be Kids’ Only Bingo also.

July 19th.  Christmas For Children and Sports Trivia/Memorabilia Day
Bring your sports trading cards and memorabilia to our “Buy, Sell or Trade” Day, or just show them off.  We’ll have sports trivia competitions between kids, adults, and families during the day.  Saturday night we’ll have our 2nd auction of the year with all proceeds going to the Christmas for Children Fund.  The Top of the Trail Café will put on a nice dinner before the auction so be sure to stick around.

July 26th.  Survivor Weekend
Two teams will compete in challenging tasks and assignments during the day and finish off with a scavenger hunt.  All participants will receive rewards at the end of the day.

August 2nd.  Member Appreciation Day
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all August Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Members can enjoy great deals in the Trading Post and Cafe, free movie and bike rentals and win “Medina Bucks” for the Trading Post.

August 9th.  Luau/Island Day
We are going Native!  Pull out the grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts and join us for Island Games, Native Costume Contests, Volleyball Tournaments, a Luau Buffet Dinner and Hawaiian Dancers in the evening. 

August 16th.  Back to School
The kids will have a Pool Tournament, Mini Golf tournament, “school supply” Candy Game, a special Back-to-School craft.  We’ll finish the day with Kids’ Only Bingo with $10 Wal Mart Gift Cards as prizes.

August 23rd.  Parade of Pets
You’ll start the day with a Pet Parade in the morning.  After lunch we will have a Pet “Birthday Party” followed by a Pet Contest, judged independently by our younger set.  In the evening come back to the Activity Center and join in on Pet Bingo.

August 30th.  Labor Day/Carnival Weekend
Come out for a Bike/Pet Parade, Hayrides in the morning and Banana Splits in the afternoon.  The Carnival will have Game Booths, Food Booths, a Moon Walk and more.  We’ll finish off Saturday with the Medina Prize Game.  Don’t go home Sunday morning, because we’ll be having a B.B.Q. dinner and a dance on the Pavilion that evening.  The Top of the Trail Café will open for breakfast on Monday morning.

September 6th.  Grandparent’s Day Weekend
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all September Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Bring the grandparents out for good ole family (my granddad can beat your granddad) competitions.  In the evening we’ll pop in a movie and pass around the popcorn.    

September 13th.  Puzzle Mania
Come join us for more puzzles than you can imagine.  We’ll have individual and family competitions in Jig Saw Puzzle completion, Mazes, Crosswords and much more.

September 20th.  Member Challenge Day 
Let’s everyone try our hand at Pickleball, Volleyball, Tether Ball and other “ball” games.  All challenges will be met.  When we’re tired of that we’ll slow down a little with a Mini-Golf Tournament.  In the evening we’ll stay indoors for card and board game challenges.

September 27th.  Scavenger Weekend
We’ll have a Scavenger Hunt starting Saturday morning with prizes for the winners.  With everybody out scavenging, let’s have a Preserve-Wide Yard Sale through Sunday afternoon.  In the evening, we’ll have a relaxing time with a movie and popcorn.

October 4th.  Oktoberfest
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all October Birthdays and Anniversaries.  There will be Root Beer Chuggin, Pie Eatin, and more.  The Top of the Trail will put on a special German Dinner.

October 11th.  “Kids-In-Charge” Weekend
This weekend all activities have been planned and will be conducted by the kids.

October 18th.  Flea Market Weekend
Let’s all get together under the Pavilion for the “Second Open” Flea Market of the year.  While the parents are selling off their treasures we’ll put the kids through Lawn Game challenges.  In the evening, we’ll all settle down for a good game/social night.

October 25th.  Halloween Weekend
Come out for Pumpkin Carving, Pinatas, Trick or Treat Hayride, Costume Contests, the Haunted Trail and the Halloween Dance.

November 1st.  Western Dress Days
Join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all November Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Dust off them western duds, get all duded up and come on down to the Activity Center for a “Western Dress” Contest.  Winners will be treated to Breakfast for two at the Top of the Trail Café. 

November 8th.  Veterans’ Weekend
Let’s take time out to recognize our veterans of the armed forces.  All veterans will be asked to sign in to be recognized and receive a small token of appreciation from the staff of Thousand Trails Medina Lake.  To honor all veterans, we’ll have a balloon release.  Stay tuned for all unannounced activities during the day.

November 15th.  Winter Texan Welcome Party
Join the Texas Chapter of the FMCA, and the Medina Lake Thousand Trails Staff as we welcome the arriving Winter Texans.  We’ll start the week-long Craft Fair with their arrival, have a Craft Sale and Banana Splits.  In the evening there will be a member jam-session and a dance.

November 22nd.  Craft Fair
This will be the completion of our second ever week-long “Fair”  Members have brought their crafts in to be judged and this is the weekend we find out who the winners are.  During the day we will have a variety of craft events for all ages.

November 27th.  Thanksgiving Day Dinner (Potluck)
Join Thousand Trails members and staff for our traditional Thanksgiving Day Dinner.  We will put out “All You Can Eat” Turkey, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Rolls and Drinks.  You bring a side Dish and a Dessert.  Tickets will be on sale at Ranger Station, Trading Post and Top of the Trail Café.

November 29th.  Thanksgiving/Super Bingo Weekend
Join in for Brown Bag and Candy Bar Bingo in the morning.  In the afternoon let’s have Card Bingo, Horseshoes and Mini-Golf.  Super Bingo will be in the evening with free cards and great prizes.  Adults on the main floor and kids in the Adult Room.

December 6th.   Pearl Harbor Day Weekend
Let’s start the day with an all-day Craft Sale from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  Then join us for an old-fashioned birthday party with games, and ice cream and cake to celebrate all December Birthdays and Anniversaries.  During the day we’ll take time to remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.  Not to be too solemn, we will have games on the lawn as well. 

December 13th.  Member Christmas Party
We will have an all-day Craft Sale today from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  Go on a Hayride with Santa and sing Christmas carols, the join Santa in the Activity Center where his elves will be handing out hot chocolate.  In the evening we will complete the trimming of the Christmas tree and enjoy party trays provided by the Top of the Trail Café.

December 20th.  Lazy Holidays
Let’s have another all-day Craft Sale today from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  Meet in the Activity Center for whatever game suits you - there’ll be Reindeer Races, Card Bingo, Board Games and other unannounced activities. 

December 25th.  Christmas Dinner
The Top of the Trail Café will put out an “All You Can Eat” Christmas Buffet.  You bring a side Dish and Dessert.  Tickets and full details will be available at the Trading Post, Ranger Station and Top of the Trail Café.

December 27th.  Health/Wellness Fair
We will have the last of our month long all-day Craft Sale today from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  Want to make that New Years Resolution all about health?  Come to one of our health and wellness seminars during the day and get started.  During the day, we’ll make up games and quizzes as we go.  Nothing for the evening ’cause we’re getting ready for New Years Eve. 

December 31st.  New Year’s Eve Dance
Bring your snacks and drinks and let’s all say goodbye to 2008 together in the Activity Center.
