Theme Weekends 2009

May 8-10Mother’s Day Weekend. Come and celebrate the wonderful women in our lives that we call Mom and Grandma! Bring information to create her family tree (fruit or nut) and make her a special card. The Dancing D.J. will be kicking off our summer season with music, line dancing and fun games.  The new fire pit will be burning for the first time and we will initiate it and the season with real s’mores. The hay wagon will be filled with fresh hay, so come and join us for some great fun. 

May 15-17Armed Forces Weekend.  Join us to salute and honor our current heroes in all branches of the armed services.  We will make a flag that you can proudly display in your room.  Come on out to the Pavilion on Saturday night and enjoy the music with Steve Edwards, roast a marshmallow and take a hayride.

May 22-24Remembering Those That Have Served Weekend (Memorial Day). – Bring family photos of those that have served in the armed forces, especially those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country and we will make picture frames to honor them. All veterans will be recognized during the Saturday night entertainment by the Dancing D.J.  Join us for some great entertainment, a nice campfire, s’mores and the Manager’s hayrides. The fun continues Sunday night, with The Corvairs entertaining us, a campfire, s’mores and hayrides.

May 29-31Spring Flower Weekend.  Join us for a colorful weekend centered on the many varieties of flowers that are evident in this part of the country.  Create a special keepsake to hang in your room.  Eddie Williams will be entertaining us on Saturday night, the campfire will be burning, the marshmallows roasting and the hayride will be rolling.

June 5-7 – Let’s Go to the Races Weekend. Thoroughbred racings third leg of the Triple Crown will be run today. Will this be the year one horse wins it all?  Join us for some fun racing games and create your own horse picture to take home.  Donald Prieto will be here performing his tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. We’ll be “All Shook Up” as we rock the night away with great music, a warm fire, marshmallows and hayrides.

June 12-14 – Take Me Out To The Ball Game Weekend.   Baseball season is in full swing and we will be swinging with our bat decorating and baseball fun.  The Corvairs will be rocking on Saturday evening while the campfire burns, the marshmallows roast and the hayrides roll.

June 19-21 – Father’s Day Weekend. Join us as we celebrate those wonderful men that we call Dad or Grandpa. Bring information concerning your family tree and we will create one for you to give to your Dad or Grandpa. What a great reminder of his family! The Dancing D.J. will be providing music, fun and games on Saturday evening while the campfire burns, the marshmallows roast and the hayride rolls.

June 26-28 – Yee Haw Western Weekend. With the San Benito Horseshow and Rodeo only a short drive away, we will get into the spirit of the old west with roping, water pistol duels and stick horse races.  On Saturday night, Gene Carney will play an occasional country song, the campfire will be burning and the marshmallows roasting as the Manager’s hayride rolls on down the trail.

July 3-5 –  Stars and Stripes Weekend (Independence Day).  Stars and Stripes Weekend will kick-off with a Friday night performance by The Corvairs, accompanied by the campfire, s’mores and hayrides.  Saturday will find us creating our own stars and stripes and having an Independence Day Parade.  Steve Edwards will provide the Saturday night entertainment he will be accompanied by the campfire, s’mores and hayrides

July 10-12 – Wet and Wild Weekend. Water balloons and water guns and maybe even water hoses will help keep everyone cool during this fun weekend.  Eddie Williams will be performing Saturday evening while the campfire toasts the marshmallows and the hayride bounces down the road.

July 17-19 – Ho Ho  Ho Hot Christmas in July Weekend.   Join us as we get in the Holiday Spirit in the summer heat.  We will decorate a tree ornament and have the Dancing D.J. play a Christmas song or two as he teaches us to line dance and plays games.  The Yule log will be burning, elves can roast their marshmallows and the Sl-hay-ride will be jingling.
  
July 24-26 – Renaissance Festival.  We will be celebrating the Renaissance with the survivors of the Garlic Festival by jousting, jesting and crafting.  The old time Corvairs will be entertaining on Saturday night as the campfire crackles, the marshmallows drip and the hayride bounces.

July 31- August 2 – Blue Hawaii Weekend.  Come out and enjoy an island weekend of hula hoop dancing, lei making. Then enjoy the music of Donald Prieto as he does his phenomenal Elvis impersonation.  Try not to set your grass skirts on fire with our campfire and not to get marshmallows on too many leis as we ride the hay wagon through the tropical breeze.

August 7-9 – Beach Party Weekend.  Join us for some beach volleyball, sand castle building and surf art. The Dancing D.J. will play a few songs by the Beach Boys while we have fun with the campfire, marshmallows and hayrides (not recommended for those in bathing suits)
 
August 14-16 – Dog Days Weekend.  Do you know why these hot summer days are called “dog days”?  If you do, come and tell us.  We are having a celebration of our four legged friends with paw art, look-alike and obedience contest, and a special “doggie hayride”.  On Saturday night sing “Who Let the Dogs Out?” with The Corvairs while melting marshmallows at the campfire that haven’t already been melted by the sun!

August 21-23 – Back to School Weekend.  The kids are back or going back to school. We will be trying to have some “recess” fun and make a picture frame for their new school picture.  The Dancing D.J. will be here to provide some great music and entertainment while the campfire burns, marshmallows get dropped and some beat up hay bales endure another night of being used as seats.

August 29 – Mystery Weekend. Think about joining us as we try to figure out what we are going to do this weekend.  Gary Carnes will be providing the mysterious entertainment. If we can find the matches, we will start a campfire and if the marshmallows aren’t already melted, we will melt them over the fire.  If the hay bales are not too tired, we will try to haul you around on them a few more times.  Come out and have some fun solving these mysteries.

September 4-6 – Salute to America’s Workforce Weekend (Labor Day).  Come out and enjoy the last big weekend of the season as we pay tribute to the hard working people of our great country.  We will be playing games requiring hard work and dedication.  Donald Prieto will be working, doing his great Elvis tribute on Saturday night. The Corvairs will be providing the entertainment on Sunday night.  We will have a campfire, s’mores and hayrides both nights.

September 11-13 – The Famous Final Scene Weekend.  Think in terms of bridges burned. Think of seasons that must end. See the river rise and fall. They will rise and fall again. It’s the famous final scene. We wrap up this great season with our last weekend of activities and the season ending performance by The Dancing D.J. The fire will be burning and the s’mores will be being enjoyed. The hay bales will work one last night before making a horse somewhere very happy. Come out and be a part of this famous final weekend.
