Theme Weekends 2009

**Kids be sure to join us all summer long as we reunite with our friends Walker Wolf, Harley Bear, Philbert the Squirrel, Dray the Dragonfly, Haley the Hawk, and Hoot the Owl. Yes the Club Blazer team is back in Action. Every weekend we will be having special Club Blazer activities like nature hikes, making things out of recycled materials, safety, and learning how to conserve energy. We also plan on having a lot of guest speakers such as live animal presentations by our local educators. We’re looking forward to seeing you.

May 9 & 10th Mother’s Day Weekend
Bring Mom up for a stress free weekend. You can treat her to our wonderful Breakfast and she won’t have to cook or clean , then you can come down and make her a special Mother’s Day craft using recycled items. Bring her to the lodge in the afternoon and we’ll have a special Mother’s Day tea.

May 23, 24, 25th Memorial Day Weekend
Help us kick off the summer right, kids can come down and join us to learn lots of great things about wildlife and recycling just like our friends in Club Blazer. We’ll also have a magician, our annual Don Humphrey horseshoe Tourney, family fun competitions like egg toss & pudding eating and of course live music. Don’t miss out on all the fun! See ya here!

June 20th & 21st Fathers Day Weekend
Bring Dad camping for the weekend. Start your weekend off by filling Dad up with one of our delicious omelets then take him for a relaxing day of fishing at Lake Cuyamaca. If he’s the adventurous type then go for a hike to Cuyamaca peak or if you want an awesome view of the lake as you hike to stonewall Peak. Then when you come back let Dad relax while you come down to the lodge and make a special craft for him.

July 4th & 5th Old Fashioned Fourth of July
Join us as we celebrate the fourth the old fashioned way with lots of family oriented activities like a watermelon eating contest, jello toss and much more. There will be a magic show featuring the amazing Dana and a live band. We will also have a live birds of prey show featuring sky hunters.

July 18th & 19th Mad Science Weekend
This weekend Harley Bear and Dray the Dragonfly are happy because we will be showing you lots of fun things to make out of recycled materials and show you how even kids can help conserve energy. Harley’s favorite recycle science item is a real erupting volcano that you can use over and over again. We will be making this and other science projects like slime. If you love gooey science be sure you don’t miss this weekend. For the adults we’ll have a program with all sorts of things that you won’t believe you can make out of recycled materials, how about a really strong tote bag out of a dog food bag?

July 25th & 26th Rapture Weekend
Haley the Hawk and Hoot the Owl are real excited about this weekend
because we will be meeting a lot of their friends. Sky Hunters will be
bringing live birds of prey for a presentation and they will teach us how to respect wildlife and how to keep them safe by keeping the campground clean. We will also learn what our local owls eat by dissecting owl pellets. Come join us for a very educational weekend.

August 8th & 9th Butterflies and Blooms
Bring your cameras for some really great photos as our butterfly garden should be in full bloom. Come learn what plants you can use to attract Butterflies and Humming Birds to your yard . Sit and enjoy watching them and see how many different kinds you can spot if you wear bright colors and
sit real still as they might land on you. We will also be learning about the different types of butterflies, we have quite a variety. Theme related crafts will also be available.

August 15th & 16th Luau Weekend
Join us for an island getaway, we’ll have Polynesian dancers, lei making,
hula hoop contest, limbo, and of course, our delicious Hawaiian dinner of
pork, Hawaiian rice, fruit salad, roll, dessert, and drink.
We’ll have lots of tropical crafts and games for everyone. Come down and
help us make our ocean banner and learn about ocean life.
Lots of family fun for everyone.

August 22nd & 23rd Creepy Creatures Weekend
Come learn about all different types of creatures that most people think are creepy, like bats, snakes and bugs. Learn about their role in the environment & how important it is to protect them. Lot’s of fun games & crafts relating to them.

September 5th 6th & 7th Labor Day Weekend
Come join us for the last big holiday of the summer .We will be taking all of our favorite activities from the whole summer and putting them into one fun filled weekend. Water games, a magician and band, family competitions and much more. Come join us for a fun filled weekend.

October
If you like peace and quiet then this is a great time of year to visit our park. You can go to Julian and shop for antiques or get a delicious apple pie. October is apple festival days in Julian and you can get just about anything made from apples such as apple butter, apple jam and much more. Don’t forget that winter is the best time for trout fishing at Lake Cuyamaca or go for a great day hike on one of the many hiking trails in the state park.

November 26th Thanksgiving Weekend
Come join us for our delicious Thanksgiving feast. We do all the cooking and cleaning and you just enjoy all of the extra time with your family. Come relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air. We provide the turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberries, roll, pumpkin pie , Drink all for a reasonable price . Call the Preserve after November 1st for more details (619)-445-2835

December 5th Christmas Decorating Party
Join us in the lodge as we have a fun day decorating the lodge and the park. We’ll decorate the tree and have goodies . All month long on Saturdays we will be doing Christmas Crafts and even making different types of cookies and candies.

December 19th Member Christmas Potluck
Bring your favorite hors d‘oeuvres and a drink and celebrate Christmas with your fellow campers.
